Guy has been designing lighting for theatre, dance, opera and musicals for over fifteen years.

At the 2010 TMA Awards he was nominated for Best Lighting Designer for A Christmas Carol; at the 2009 Knight of Illumination Awards he was nominated for Best Lighting Design in Opera for The Magic Flute.

He was the lighting designer for Henri Oguike Dance Company for six years during which time he designed over twenty new works. Recently he has re-mounted his 2002 design for Oguike's Frontline in Portugal, for Companhia Nacional de Bailado and in Italy, for Aterbaletto. Other designs for dance include pieces for Rafael Bonachela, Mark Bruce, Ben Wright, Shobana Jeyasingh, Robin Dingemans, Claire Cunningham & Jose Agudo, Darren Ellis, Jo Fong, Sarah Warsop, Anthony Kurt-Gabel, Charlotte Eatock and Alicia Herrero-Simon. He also designed And Who Shall Come To The Ball? for Candoco; Mischief for Theatre Rites; and the 2008 production of Havana Rakatan which has toured Europe, Australia and Japan. Current projects for 2011 include After Effects a performance and installation with Darren Ellis; the New York première of Mischief; and a re-mount of Bonachela's The Land of Yes, The Land of No in Australia, for Sydney Dance Company.

His opera credits include The Cunning Little Vixen for The National Theatre, Brno; Promised End, The Duenna, The Magic Flute, Katya Kabanova, Don Giovanni, Anna Bolena, Susannah, Eugene Onegin and Seraglio for English Touring Opera; The Magic Flute, Hansel & Gretel, Tosca, The Marriage of Figaro and Wagner's Ring Cycle for Longborough Festival Opera; Simon Boccanegra, The Merry Widow, Tosca and Cosi Fan Tutte for Opera UK; and Names of the Dead at Battersea Arts Centre. Current projects include La Clemenza di Tito, Il Tabarro, Gianni Schicchi and Fantastic Mr Fox for English Touring Opera, which open in Spring 2011.

Recent theatre credits include Peter Pan for the National Theatre of Scotland; Serenading Louie for the Donmar Warehouse; Be Near Me a co-production between the National Theatre of Scotland and the Donmar Warehouse; Waste for the Almeida; Othello in the West End - originally a co-production between Northern Broadsides and West Yorkshire Playhouse; Elektra for the Young Vic; A Christmas Carol and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe - both co-productions between West Yorkshire Playhouse and Birmingham Rep - and As You Like It, Bollywood Jane, Macbeth and How Many Miles To Basra? for West Yorkshire Playhouse; Amadeus, Could it be Magic?, The Little Fir Tree, Macbeth, Fen and Far Away for Sheffield Theatres; Kes and Season's Greetings for Liverpool Playhouse; Of Mice And Men for The Mercury Theatre, Colchester; A Streetcar Named Desire for Theatr Clwyd; He also designed Soho and Marat/Sade, the first two productions in the original Arcola Theatre as well as thirteen touring shows for London Classic Theatre. Current projects for 2011 include Faith Healer for Bristol Old Vic; Electra for The Gate Theatre, London; and A Delicate Balance for the Almeida.

His musicals include Aspects of Love in the UK and South Africa; The Witches of Eastwick and All The Fun Of The Fair on tour in the UK; Assassins at The Crucible, Sheffield, City of Angels in Frankfurt and My Fair Lady in Singapore, all directed by Nikolai Foster.
